Description:
Malcolm in the Middle follows a dysfunctional family in an anonymous location.
The family is headed by Lois a very stressed mother, and the eccentric father Hal.
The eldest son, Francis, once a wild youth, now lives on a ranch with his wife, Piama. The next is violent and idiot Reece. The second youngest emerging genius and evil mind Dewey, and baby Jamie, already a troublemaker, is the youngest. In the middle we found Malcolm, a genius who seems to be the only hope his family has. Since his discovery at the age of eleven, Malcolm has been his own worst enemy, though he'll tell you that his family is his worst enemy
Impressions :
I've seen this series like 10 times, I love it !
Each episode of the series is very funny, we follow all the crazy family during 7 seasons and we're never bored: this is the same kind of humour during these seasons, but every time I think "How the hell they find so much funny ideas ?!".
The generic is really good, it's  so good that it will be never changed during the 7 seasons.
The only negative critic I would write is about the storyline, we really feel that producers wanted to extend the series because of his success, but we could forgive them.

Chuck

Corentin Moquet presented to us the series Chuck.
It's an americain series created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, procuced by McG and broadcasted on NBC. "The series is about an "average computer-whiz-next-door" who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend now working in the CIA; the message embeds the only remaining copy of the world's greatest spy secrets into Chuck's brain."

My impressions: I sincerely enjoy this series. I have watched the first season since the presentation. This series is really easy to watch, I found it very funny and entertaining, every character have his own humour and the series doesn't take itself seriously as we could see in the way chuck defuses the bomb on the first episode. Chuck is one of these series that you do spend a great time watching it. I would also add that the actresses are very very watchable.

Lost

Lost is a serial drama series, being aired since 2004 on the Americain Broadcasting Company (ABC) (I've just understood the meaning of these letters..). This series tells how the victims of a flight crash survive on an island. This island seems to be desert but some mysterious things happen on it.

I have watched the first season when it was broadcasted on tv, and the impression I get on this series is that it's full of suspence, every episode ends with a rebound.
From episode to episode we discovers more and more informations on the reason of their crash.
We discover that every characters are linked by flashbacks focused on what they did just before the flight.
Each episode reveals new informations, new details, news clues.
But it becomes complicated to gather all these informations moreover not all are consistent(cohérent).
And then spent a moment longer you follow the series, the less you understand what the hell is happening on the island.
It happens things more and more strange, more and more ununderstandable.
I really think you have to be psychologically endurent and courageous to watch the entire series. Personnaly I gave up this series whereas I loved the first season.

Friends

Willy and Florent presented to us the series Friends.
Description:
This series deals with six young people who find the companionship, comfort and support they get from each other to support the pressures of life.

Impressions:
Even if we all have seen this series a lot of times, it doesn't kill anybody to see a few episodes sometimes, like this Monday, we've always a good time watching them.

Contrarily at the 'A-Team' series, 'Friends' is not only good in our memory.
The acting is really good, we get attached to each of them easily because each have specific characteristics. Each episodes is punctuated by a lot of jokes, we always see ourselves laughing.

"This is the story of a man with the ability to bring things back to life.
It all began in the town of Coeur d'Coeurs, when he was just a boy.
Ned was in love with the girl next door.
And discovered his extraordinary talent,
In the most unusual way.
It was a gift that came with a caveat:
First touch, life;
Second touch, dead for ever.
Nineteen years later,
Young Ned secret become a secret no more,
And the private investigator proposes his partnership
...
Until one murder changes everything.
Like a prince charming, Ned brings the love of his live back.
But the second touch will take her for ever ..."

Ophélie & Benjamin presented to us Pushing Daisies.
It is an Americain series created by Bryan Fuller that aired on ABC.
Touted as a "forensic fairy tale", Pushing daisies tells the story of Ned (Lee Pace), a pie-maker with the ability to bring things back to life. He also colobarates with a private investigator (Chi McBride). His ability enables him to de-rot his fruits when he's cooking a pie and to interogate the victims of murder by bringing them back to life during one minute.

My impression when I first watched this series is that the series is very colorful, the decors seem very enchanted like the Tim Burton movie 'Big Fish'. This enchantment is also caused by the voice of Jim Dale, the narrator, as we can see in the video (It's not surprising that this man worked on Harry Potter). And I liked these surprising murders, because it's not a serious series. But I think this series is too romantic for geeks like us, moments where the actors sing and when they show us the impossible love between Ned and Chuck (Anna Friel) are not our cup of tea. Thus I think Pushing Daisies is a great series for girls like Ophélie because it's too much focused on the impossible love story. But for the others I'd advice to only watch few episodes for the fairy atmosphere but not the entire season because the story line it's not really interesting for what I've seen.

Two men and a half men

Guillaume Castaño and Mathieu Andre presented to us the sitcom Two and a Half Men.
As The Big Bang Theory, this series is produced by Chuck Lorre.

This sitcom is a comedy and deals with Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), a successful commerical jingle writer who leads a rich bachelor life : Malibu Beach home, luxury car and a lot of ladies. But one day, his recently divorced brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), and his nephew, Jake (Angus T. Jones), moved in to his house with him.

The episodes of the series are very funny. The quarrel of the two brothers is the main theme, it is caused by the evident difference of behavior, one is a responsible father recently divorced and the other is a rich bachelor living on the Malibu beach. Between these two antagonists there is the son Jake who takes part depending on the interest he can take of it, and the maid Berta, who answers to the brothers with a lot of sarcasm.
In my opinion, it is very comic but it can bore along the series as it always the same kind of humor, it can seem repetitive. Moreover the story line is quasi-inexistant and the scenario a bit simple so it will easily bore those are adept of this humor. Personnaly I got a bit tired of this series by wathching it every days. For me this series is a good entertainment, but to watch with moderation.

The Lost Room

I couldn't have seen the presentation about The lost room on Monday 12th October because I was sick, but I saw the two episodes shown to the group. Here is a summary of the first two episodes.

Description:
A Policeman uncovers a key while working on a murder case. The key can open every door and take him into a motel room, but if you leave there something that isn't yours, it will be gone as soon as the room "restarts". He discovers that there are many objects like this key in the world. They don't look special, but they have special powers. When his daughter is kidnapped and he is suspected for killing his partner, he must find a way to bring her back from the room, while working with different groups and men searching for all the objects. But he can't trust anyone, because everybody become crazy after touching these objects..

Impressions:
I have enjoyed watching the two first episodes of this series !!

I'll certainly watch the 4 others episodes, because I really want to know what's happening after the 2nd episode. The storyline is really good, enough action, and a good acting : for example, at the end of the second episode, we really the exhaustion of the policeman and then his relaxation when he came to the room .

I appreciate the concept of the series too : simple objects, special powers. I couldn't stop laughing during the scene of the Bus Ticket: the one that teleport people on the Road of the Sunshine Motel when they touch it. Normally, I don't appreciate the fantastic series films and this kind of things at all but I make an exception for this one, they really did a good job.

Six Feet Under

Description:
Despite I was not here on Monday 5th October, I saw the episode of the series presented by Clement and Fabien. Six Feet Under is a drama series that takes a 'darkly comical look at members of a family that runs an independent funeral home'. The family must learn to deal with a death of their own, while figuring out how to go ahead with the business of the living.

Impressions:
Like I've seen only the first episode, I can't talk about the whole series, but I think that this episode represents the series, because Clement and Fabien have chosen it.

So, I've really disliked the 1st episode of the 1st season, the first impressions I had after watching the episode was first "uuuuuh" because of the homosexual scene, and then "I will never ever see an other episode of this series". Simply because I didn't laugh at all and I only see series for laughing, and I wasn't interested by the series because nothing happens.

The series treats a lot of things I don't like to be treated on series :
First, sex, when Nate and the girl meet at the airport.
Second, death, this is the main subject of the series, and this is a subject I don't want a series to treat, particularly when it's not treated with humour.
Third, drugs, with Claire's problem.
Finally, homosexuality, I don't care about homosexuals , but I have to admit that the last scene with David and it's boyfriend disgusts me, and for nothing in this world I'll will watch it again.

To conclude, I think that I really dislike drama series, and unfortunately, six feet under is one of them.

X-Files

On Monday 14th - Loïc and Edouard presented to us the series X-Files. It's a science fiction series in which Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), two FBI agents, are investigating on unsolved cases called the X-Files.

Unfortunately, I've never watched this series before and as we only watched a n special episode in black and white, I don't have a clear idea about the series.

This episode parodies the Gothic novel of Frankenstein, written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley.
Mary Shelley (née Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin; 30 August 1797 – 1 February 1851) was a British novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer, best known for her Gothic novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).

I enjoy the different crazy atmospheres , first the one referring to doctor Frankenstein with the claps of lightning, the musics and the way it's filmed. And then the ambiance when the monster was assaulting a woman at her home, with the psychedelic music and the lights. Even if I don't really like science fiction, I appreciated watching that.

Nevertheless, the two main characters weren’t as interesting as I expected. Here, I preferred the monster and the doctor. And then the special effects weren't very good, for example the monster’s face was a bit of a failure.

To conclude this series didn't convince me, but I'm waiting to watch a normal episode to really make my opinion about this TV show.

Stargate SG-1

Description:

David and Kevin presented to us the series Stargate SG1. It's a science-fiction series, of about 10 seasons.
The main character Colonel Jack O’Neill (played by Richard Dean Anderson) is the head of a secret military team called the SG1. And his teammates are Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Teal’c (Christopher Judge) and Captain Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping).
Their military base is the only one which possesses a stargate, so they are able to travel through this stargate across a complex e universe, among plenty of alien races.
And their main mission is to protect earth from the "alien" menace.

Impressions:
David's little introduction about all the different alien races made us understand how borr complex e this series is. There is an all a whole universe around, it's like every little thing has a story.

I think you must be a bit insane to follow the all ten seasons of SG-1, I was almost asleep when we watched the first episode. I think an entire season could kill me.

I used to watch it sometimes when I was younger, and it has definitely not changed since; humans with assault rifles and aliens with laser beam fighting each other. Despite this, I still appreciate a few things. The special effects, because it's an old series and they are well done for its time. And O’Neill's sarcasm and sense of humor.

To conclude, this series isn't my cup of tea, I'm not a fan of this kind of action without an original scenario.

A-team

Description:
The A-Team is an American action adventure television series about a fictional group of ex-United States Army Special Forces who work as soldiers of fortune while being on the run from the military for a "crime they didn't commit".(Wikipeda)
Impressions :
The first word that came to my mind after seeing the episode presented by Romain and Robin is: Ridiculous!
When I was younger, I loved this series, and I think this is for the same reasons that I judge it ridiculous now.

Younger, I was only interested in the battles and luckily because the scenario is nonexistent, we could ask ourselves how an adult can make a scenario like the one we watched : the A-team save an unknown man from a gang of lumberjack and there is only one explanation about this, so be careful !

So I was only interested in action, and I certainly got it because  the episode we've seen follow this pattern : Action, action, action action and action, with some funny dialogs sometimes. This  series is like new video games : poor scenario, infinite ammo and infinite live for the heroes.

Despite these points, the credits and the humoristic moments made me laugh, so watching an episode is funny, but on more is enough to bore you to death.

The Tudors

Description:
On Monday 7th September, we watched two episodes of the Tudors, a historic series created by Michael Hirst about the reign of Henry VIII, King of England from 1491 to 1547. The series deals with our history and its different players melting politics with love.

Impressions:
First, we have seen the second episode of the first season. It talks about the meeting between the Henry VIII and Ann Boleyn's sister in France where the King has come to sign a treaty of perpetual peace.

Apart from the wrestling between the two kings : François 1er and  Henry VIII, there is no action in this episode and far too much politics, the only good point is the really good actors' performance, but a good playing with a bad production make a bad episode.

The second episode is the long one that deal with Anne Boleyn's death. Although we can feel each emotion by the really good acting, this episode is BORING, and it's end is ridiculous. With all the blood of the previous  scenes we could imagine that Ann Boleyn will be greatly beheaded. But not at all, she die too quickly and the death is not realistic at all.

My judgement is certainly affected by the fact that I'm not interested in history, and so all the things connected with history (like this series) bore me.

Scrubs

On Monday 14th - Sahra and Julian present us  Scrubs to us !
It's a medical comedy-drama in which we follow the lives of young students who make their internship at Sacred Heart, a hospital.
The characters of the series  :
Doctor Jonathan Dorian "J.D."  is the main character and narrator of Scrubs and is played by Zach Braff..
Doctor Christopher Duncan Turk, who's mostly known as just Turk, is played by Donald Faison and is J.D.'s best friend on Scrubs.
Carla is a one of the hardest working nurses at Sacred Heart on Scrubs and is played by Judy Reyes.
Elliot is very close with J.D. and has an off-and-on again relationship with J.D. she's played by Sarah Chalke.
Doctor Percival "Perry" Cox is a very sarcastic doctor at Sacred Heart in Scrubs played by John C. McGinley.

Our reactions:
We had seen this series until the season 2 before the presentation, so our personal reactions don't depend on Sarah and Julian's choice of episodes . First we like the way it's filmed, through J.D'eyes and his crazy thoughts. Then we enjoy the long and funky quotes of Dr. Perry. Nevertheless we don't really get the utility of the janitor in the series.
In some episodes and especially one that Julian and sarah showed to us (season 5 episode 7), we really appreciate the songs sung by the lawyer, Ted Buckland.
